“I’ve always loved tennis. My dad worked a little bit in tennis, which was nice to start with, but I just loved it, was good at it, and kept playing. Since I can remember, I was always shooting for going pro. I realized I was pretty good when I committed to doing high school online. That time, switching from middle school to high school, is just a natural breakpoint. I was ready to start training more and wasn’t really able to with school, so that gave me the ability to start traveling more. Not once during juniors did I ever think to pursue something else. During college, maybe sometimes, after a few really bad weeks. But never during juniors and not during the pros. My mom went to Stanford, so I had been there a lot, seen the campus, and had always loved it. It’s such a good school, that it was basically a decision I made from childhood. I had some better offers from other good schools that I turned down because I loved it so much. Not feeling motivated around tennis wasn’t something I had experienced until college. I’m always excited to play and ready to practice. After
